Windows Media Player
You may notice you get a blank black screen when you attempt to take pictures from windows media player. To fix this problem we need to disable hardware acceleration before we take a screenshot.
- Open windows media player.
- Open the "tools" dropdown list then click options.
- Click the performance tab and under "Video acceleration" slide the slider all the way to the left to disable it.
- Now click ok to save the setting.
Real Player
To take a screenshot from Real Player
- Open the 'tools' dropdown box and select 'preferences'.
- In the new window select 'hardware' from the category list on the left.
- Then under the 'video card compatibility' section slide the slider all the way to the left so it says 'disable optimized video and overlays'.
Winamp
You can take screenshot from winamp player without changing any setting. Just play any video in Winamp player and then hit the print screen button. Now you will be able to paste the image into your image editing software.
It is because winamp doesn't use hardware acceleration during playback
